Mother’s Day is a few short days away and we polled the ladies at STT to find out what they’re planning to give their moms. What would be the perfect gift for your own mom? Or if you’re a mother yourself, what would you love to receive?

  • Lindsey: I can’t be with my mom on Mother’s Day this year, but I sent her a set of PJs by my favorite brand. They’re soft, luxe and hopefully something to help her enjoy some well deserved relaxation!
  • Samantha: My mom got her Mother’s Day gift a little early this year. We took a beach vacation last week and I gave her an Amazon Kindle so she could take along a few new books to enjoy without being weighed down!
  • Alix: One thing my mom and I share is a passion for comfort. We love to
throw on a pair of sweatpants, an old t shirt and a cushy pair of
slippers after a long day. This Mother’s Day, I got my Mom an ultra
soft pair Eberjey pajamas, a luxurious upgrade that’s sure to become
    an addiction.
  • Ashley: My mom can be a tricky person to buy for, so I  try to avoid giving her clothes or jewelry. I also like to give gifts that are thoughtful and somewhat creative. Since my mom is going on vacation in a few weeks, I decided to book her choice of either a facial or massage at the hotel spa.  She’ll be totally relaxed after a little pampering and ready to enjoy the beach.

Going on vacation is great, but packing can be a real hassle. When it comes to beauty products, it’s easiest to make like my high school English teacher instructed when assigning our essays and “KISS: keep it simple, stupid”.

I spent last week at the tropical Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas soaking up the sun and enjoying a few books on the beach. Packing my beauty arsenal was relatively easy since a beach vacation calls for keeping it pretty natural. Below is a list of some of my essentials:

  • Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes: These wipes are a refreshing treat from an afternoon spent at the beach. They remove makeup and dirt and leave your skin fresh.
  • Ole Henriksen Truth to Go Wipes: These bad boys smell like oranges and provide a deep clean for mornings or nights when you’re looking to skip the faucet and cleanser.
  • Josie Maran Color Stick: The all-in-one stick is a space saver and provides a rosy glow to cheeks and lips! The argan oil is also super nourishing.
  • Tarte Eyelash Curler: Hands down my favorite eyelash curler on the market!
  • By Terry Bronzer: A little pricey, but this bronzer is a great match for my pale skin and the silver compact is super luxe.
  • Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara: I’m not married to any one mascara, but I haven’t been disappointed by this new find!
  • Stila Smudge Pot in “Kitten”: The golden hue complements any skin color. I use this on my eyelids and as a highlighter on brow and cheekbones.
  • Stila BB Cream: My fav of the many BB creams I’ve tried.
  • La Roche Posay Sunscreen: I’m serious about sun protection and this sunscreen provides fantastic coverage and is so light and absorbent, you can’t even feel it.

For our second braid tutorial, we’re doing a fun twist on your average (but still beautiful!) fishtail braid. By adding a simple french braid to the beginning of your fishtail, the mermaid braid becomes something extra special!

We’re taking requests for braid tutorials so let us know in the comments below or on Twitter@sendthetrend what you’re looking to learn! And check out our new Get Your Braid On board on Pinterest for our latest braid-spiration.
